Beta Research

Research the agent-native era.

A part-time, remote research program for people who want to study the most important private AI companies — and publish institutional-grade memos on them.

Coverage mapAgents · Tokens · Infra

Each researcher takes one private company deep: founding story, product, market, competition, and the bull and bear case. Memos are edited to an institutional bar and published under your byline.

Learn how an early-stage fund actually evaluates companies — sourcing, diligence questions, market maps, and how conviction gets built before there's data to lean on.

Researchers plug into the same network as Beta founders: AI engineers, operators, and investors building at the frontier of agent systems.

The strongest researchers are invited to continue as Senior Researchers — working directly with the Beta Fund investment team on market research and live diligence.

Published memos live on research.betafund.ai and travel through Beta Fund's channels — your name on research that founders and investors actually read.

See markets as they form. Researchers get conversations with founders in and around the Beta portfolio, and a front-row seat to how rounds come together.

The work

One company. One memo. Every angle.

The program is built around a single craft: turning curiosity about a private company into research an investor would act on.

01

Pick a company that matters

Agent infrastructure, token economies, AI applications, robotics, frontier labs — the companies defining how software gets built and operated next.

02

Research it like an investor

Primary sources, product teardowns, market sizing, competitive dynamics. Not a book report — a position, with the evidence to defend it.

03

Publish and defend it

Editorial feedback from the Beta Research team, then publication — and a discussion of your thesis with the investment team.

Conviction is built
in the research.

The path

Apply once. Reviewed quarterly.

01

Apply

One application, about ten minutes, plus a short writing sample. That sample carries more weight than your resume.

02

Quarterly review

Applications are read in one batch at the end of each quarter. Apply anytime — decisions land at quarter close.

03

The cohort

Twelve weeks, roughly five hours a week, fully remote. You ship one memo with editorial feedback and join weekly research discussions.

04

Graduate — or promote

Finish with published research under your byline, or be invited to continue as a Senior Researcher with the investment team.
